Description: From the mountains of central China. Performance in Australia uncertain.

 

GIGANTOCHLOA:

Giant tropical clumping genus similar to Bambusa with about 20 species described. There may well be another 40 undescribed species according to investigators interested in this genus. Occur in the forests of Asia from Assam to Malesia.

Description: Culms densely hairy when young. Leaves grow to 20x5 cm. Indonesian species with thick-walled strong culms.

Moderate to very large clumping genus from tropical America. Included in the genus Bambusa in Grasses of the World.
